Swiftsure Equine Veterinary Services is an ambulatory and haul-in equine veterinary practice serving the Greater Victoria area that offers routine and urgent after hours care services to our regular clientele.

Routine dental care, including examination and maintenance such as floating, is crucial to your horse’s health for various reasons.

Lameness is one of the most common causes of reduced performance in horses. Using advanced diagnostic tools such as digital radiography, ultrasonography, and targeted nerve and joint anesthesia, we identify the source of lameness and develop a customized treatment and rehabilitation plan for your horse.

A pre-purchase exam evaluates a horse’s current health and soundness to help buyers determine suitability for their intended use. We perform a thorough physical and lameness assessment and provide clear, objective findings so you can make an informed purchasing decision.

Gastroscopy is a diagnostic procedure commonly used in horses to examine the inside of the stomach using a long, flexible camera (gastroscope).

Breeding your mare is an exciting process, and our team is here to support you every step of the way. From breeding soundness exams and artificial insemination to pregnancy monitoring and foaling support, we provide expert care throughout the entire reproductive cycle.

When your horse becomes ill, timely diagnosis and treatment are essential. We provide on-farm evaluation and care for a wide range of medical conditions, and collaborate with board-certified specialists when advanced diagnostics or referral care are needed.

We provide urgent veterinary services both during business hours and outside of regular business hours, 7 days a week for our regular clients. Urgent care services include colic, choke, lacerations, traumatic injuries, eye injuries, severe infections, foaling difficulties, etc.

We believe in an integrative approach to treat your horse’s back soreness, musculoskeletal conditions and other ailments. In addition to traditional lameness evaluation and therapeutics, we utilize complimentary modalities, Acupuncture, Massage Therapy, Spinal Manipulation Therapy, and Mesotherapy. to help your horse feel its best.

Shockwave therapy (often called extracorporeal shockwave therapy, or ESWT) is a non-invasive treatment used in horses to help heal certain injuries.

Our Facility
Swiftsure Equine Veterinary Services proudly opened our haul-in facility in North Saanich in early 2023, giving clients and patients access to a dedicated space for exams, diagnostics, and treatment.
Designed specifically for equine care, our facility allows us to perform many of the same services we offer on farms in a controlled, well-equipped environment. For clients looking to reduce farm call costs or access specialized procedures, hauling in provides a convenient and efficient option for veterinary care.
